Hybrid Lashes Guide - eslashes

Hybrid lashes allow for texture, customization and drama without sacrificing softness. This article will go over the benefits of mixing classic and volume lashes, and we'll provide some blending basics for creating a natural and flattering look with hybrid eyelashes/extensions.

What Are Hybrid Lashes?

Can classic and volume eyelash extensions be used together? Yes! Mixing classic and volume lash extensions is known as a mixed set or a hybrid lash set. Classic hybrid volume lashes help create a textured yet fluffy look. In a hybrid lash set, two diameters of extensions are mixed together. For example, 0.05 volume fans are combined with 0.15 ellipse flat or classic lashes. The diameter, length and curl can be customized to achieve the client's desired outcome or accommodate their natural lashes.

Classic, Hybrid & Volume Lashes: What Ratio Should I Use?

When applying hybrid lashes, the amount of classic vs. volume lashes is up to you. You can customize your lashing in many different ways to achieve ultra-glamorous results.

  • A 70% volume with 30% classic results in a fluffier lash line.
  • A 30% volume with 70% classic achieves a more textured look.

Example: A client comes in wanting the look of a classic set but has some gaps in the lash line — choosing 30% volume will help bridge the gaps in the lash line while still giving the client the look they crave.

A client who wants the best of both worlds will benefit from a 50/50 ratio of volume and classic. In this case, the volume fans can be 2D, 3D, 4D, 5D, 6D, 7D or 8D, depending on the desired outcome. The options for hybrid eyelashes/extensions are limitless.

Can Premade Fans Be Used In a Hybrid Lash Set?

The answer is yes! Premade fans or Easy Fan lashes can absolutely be used with a set of hybrid eyelashes/extensions. These types of lashes help save time for both the lash technician and the client — and help increase revenue by allowing you to schedule more appointments.

Classic vs. Hybrid Lashes: Comparing the Application Time

Applying volume eyelash extensions take more time than flat or classic extensions; therefore, an upcharge fee should be added for hybrid lashes to accommodate the longer lashing time.

The application time depends on the lash tech's experience and speed and if premade fans are used. On average, a full new hybrid lash set takes about one hour and 45 minutes to two and a half hours. A lash fill takes about one hour. The timing can be reduced by using premade fans or Easy Fan lashes. If you're thinking about starting your new career as a lash tech, eslashes has you covered.
